Lookie Lookie what I made

The other day I posted a link about a dahila fold. Well I pulled out my Creative memories circle punch (1-1/2) and punched out 8 circles, went to the link and followed the instructions and this is my finished piece. It will be used on a birthday card. In the center of the medallion I used a purple flower brad.

On this project I used a regular size legal envelope and I stamped it using my stampin up roller, and a heart from the Series G Stamps at Michael's, and inked the edges.

School Projects - Raid Mom's Scrapbook supplies

My niece, Sara had two (2) school projects so far this year at school. Which required artwork. Well since both her and her mom has scrapbook supplies they were able to dig into the supplies for the required supplies for a christmas ornament and a Mardi Gras Float.

For all my readers that are not from Louisiana. When you are in elementary school, at some point you will be ask to make a mardi Gras float as a school projects? Sara had to do hers for a history grade.

She used cardstock, ribbon, and lots and lots of red line tape.
The other project that Sara had was to make a jesse ornament for the tree at her school. Everyone in her class had to make a lily oranment. They used mod podge, cardstock, glitter, swirl paper clip and a cross. Her ornament was pick to be put on the school tree.

Peggy Morgan (Bringing Scrap bookers & Cardmarker together)

Picture to the left is Peggy to the left and her daughter Shey-lynne on the right. Shey-Lynne won an award for her layout at the Gulf Coast Scrappers.

I first met Peggy a few years ago, at Michael’s (the one on Clearview), she was handing out flyers for a crop that was being held at St. Anthony’s, the next time our path crossed was at Gulf Coast Scrappers, she was my tablemate. Ever since I have been meeting up with her once a month at the Scrapbook Cottage. We later found out that we grew up a block from each other and did not know it.

Peggy, has been scrap booking for 10 wonderful years. She has been a consulant for Creative Memories, and she has help organized monthly crops at the Scrapbook Cottage in Harvey, Louisiana. Peggy stumbled upon this wonderful hobby that we call scrap booking - 10 years ago when she was in the process of separating her daughter and son’s photos so she could start albums of their life stories.

She wanted to give to them a special gift about their childhood with thoughts and memories from their mother. One day Diane Haydel (owner of the Scrapbook Cottage) and Peggy went to a craft fair and saw a Creative Memories booth. She was blown away by a page with a silhouette of a pregnant woman and the black and white ultrasound picture inside of the belly. From that day on she was addicted to scrap booking!
Peggy and her 26 year old daughter Shey-Lynne (also addicted to Scrapbooking) are alias Sugar and Spice when they go to Scrapbook events. She has been invited to a couple of Group events with some of the most special and talented ladies she have ever met. Peggy said, “One of the best parts of Scrapbooking is the people I have met through the years. The memories of time spent with my fellow Scrapbook friends are unforgettable and I love them all.”
She has been married to the same man named Charles for 30 years. They have two adult children Mike and Shey-lynne. A beautiful grand daughter, named Trinity age 4. They are a very close family who very much enjoy spending time as a family.
Do you have any other hobbies? My only other hobby is making memories with my grand-daughter. It's funny how Scrapbooking gives me more ideas on how to have fun with her. She is also a 3rd generation Scrapbooker now!!Peggy never considered herself a crafty person until she started Scrapbooking. It has helped her through some tough times. Peggy said, “It's good for my soul !!!”

Cricut Cutting mats - message from Cathy =-Hey, the mat I got with my new Cricut for Christmas has not held up at all. I have used it less than 10 times and my cardstock won’t stick to it anymore. It claims to be good for like up to 40 uses. Well, that’s not even close.
I checked out the website and saw where they mentioned a problem with the adhesive on the mats and how they are working to correct the problem. I called them at 1-877-7-CRICUT and mentioned it to them and they are sending me two free mats that I should receive in about 5 to 7 days. Just wanted to let you all know, in case you get your hands on a bad one. They are expensive enough!

planning a class on the Cricut for Saturday, March 2nd. If you have a Cricut or Cricut Expression and a laptop and the Cricut Design Studio software, you can bring them to the class and work on your own along with me. Otherwise, I will be demonstrating different techniques using the software on our computer. I will also be teaching basic Cricut operation, so if you don't have a laptop but own a Cricut, you can bring your Cricut and learn its operation as I demo ours. If you want to just come and see how it all works before purchasing, that's fine, too.

Tag Punch Flower & Scallop edge

You know me I love surfing the net to find new ideas and to get inspiration for layouts and card making. Well I stumbled upon this pretty flower. It is made with the tag punches, and vellum paper, and glue. Well I did not have the two tag punches that was needed to make this flower. So I thought I would try my Cricut cutter and the George & Basic Shape cartridge. I cut 16 - 2 inch (Tag 2) on the cricut using the silouette feature, and use a circle punch for the middle.

Here is the link for the tutorial - makes a really cute flower for a scrapbook page or a card.
http://inksomething.blogspot.com/2008/01/snowflake-burst.html

A second tip that I discoverd while surfing the card making and scrapbook blogs is how to use the corner round punch to make a scallop edge. Look closely at the purple (click on picture to enlarge) paper and you will see where I started to make a scallop edge. I just love learning technqiues where the tools can be used for multi task.

Scrappin Packin Mommas January Meeting

Night out for the Scrappin Packin Mommas occurred on Wednesday, January 9, we had 14 in attendance, and 4 were guest. Creative juices were flowing that night, lots of beautiful cards were made. The picture on the left was just some of the stamps for use that night, also there was stamps in the container under the table.

Our guest were: Diane Haydel (owner of Scrapbook Cottage & Stampin Up Consultant), Garnet Rojas (MeMe Cat from the Scrapping Cats), Barbara Lajaunie and Linda Fazenda (scrappers from the Scrapbook Cottage). This was something new to SPM opening a monthly meeting, but it’s a new year and new things will happen. Even heard some talk about the spring weekend crop.

I mentioned later in the evening that I wished I would have brought my camera to document our meeting. Well Delaina had her camera so at the very end of the meeting I was able to capture a few pictures to post here on the blog.

GoGo Momma (Jackie) made this card using the Cricut - she used the machine to make the cute flower vase/flowers on her card. Several of the other ladies really like the card so of course they just had to make one.

With Mardi Gras right around the corner, we had a king cake.

Several of the ladies were working as a group and made some beautiful cards. To the left is Highway Momma (Delania) & Karakoe Momma (Laura) made this beautiful heart card. Which would make a cute card to give to that special valentine in your life.

To the right is Yo! Momma (Lizzy), still hanging in their after 11:15 p.m. We did close shop about 11:30 p.m. that night, it was a school night and a work night for some in the group. Diane showed Lizzy how to layer her flower. One flower, one round circle of cardstock, another flower, and then a smaller circle for the center of the flower. It lifts the flower by using the circle cardstock in the middle. I thought this was a neat tip.

Family gathering & 50 % sale at Hobby Lobby

On Saturday, January 5, all of the Spongia siblings were together after being apart for 16 months, my brother rode on a Greyhound bus for 19 hours (traveled from San Angelo, Texas - 800 miles away from his roots in Louisiana) to spend some time with his family. My brother in law Ray (Wanda’s hubby) treated us to lunch, we went to a Chinese buffet restaurant in Slidell, then all the girls wanted to shop the 50 % off sale at Hobby Lobby. Wanda ended up taking my brother, Kenny and her hubby, Ray home, while we shopped and got to visit with some of our fellow scrappers that we happen to stumble upon in Hobby Lobby. We stumbled upon the following scrappers in Hobby Lobby …. Julie Lay, her friend Sandra, Kaci Gisclair and her mother, of course you know me I had to stop and chat a bit.

There was some really great sales in the scrap booking/card making sections of the store. Ink pads Colorbox were 50% off, which was great because my sister, Lizzy and myself treated my sister, Wanda to 10 ink pads just because we love her. Of course I treated myself to 2 and 2 packs of cat eyes (3 in a pack for $3.00), 8-½ x 11 solid cardstock was another purchase and it was $2.00 a pack for 50 sheets, which Lizzy, Cathy and myself stock up on … great for making card bases or for paper piecing pieces. Each of us found punches, and stamps that we could use… it was a really great sale.

Julie Lay told us that Scrappin Buds were also having a great sale 50% off everything in the store, we arrived around 3:00 at Scrappin Buds and was able to get a few great buys. Cricut blades (2 in a pack for $5.00), some clear stamps. Lizzy and I stopped at Micheal's on clearview to pick up a box of blank greeting cards for Delaina. Of course, I had to check out the $1.00 bins I found some stamps and 3-d stickers. One of my goals for the 2008 year is to make all my greeting cards. Garnet sent Birthday Alarm.com my way and it is a so neat way of collecting birthdates. I had to make 6 cards for January that is for both family and friends. I have been surfing the internet for some really cute cliparts to use in my card making. The cards on the right are my January cards and four of them were mailed today. So watch your mail box you might be one of the luckey ones.
Wednesday, January 9, my group the "Scrappin Packin Mommas" will be meeting for a card making session. It seems like quite a few of the girls have gotten the fever for card making. The goal for this session is for everyone to bring their scrap paper/cardstock and stamps to share.

Yo! Momma - Elizabeth (Lizzy) Spongia LeBlanc

I would like introduce my sister, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Spongia LeBlanc, also a fellow scrapbooker and card marker. Picture to the left is when Yo Momma was the queen of one of the Scrappin Packin Momma's semi annual weekend crops.

Here goes….. I have been a scrap booker for approximately ten years now and love challenging my artistic abilities in addition to portraying my “Kodak moments”.

My sister, Patty introduced me to scrap booking before the more modern scrap booking of today’s time. The scrap booking industry has come a long way and I am so grateful to the people who continue to put the time into finding new products and those who keep the love of scrap booking alive. I only recently started making handmade cards and now have the fever. I can again thank my sister, Patty for all of her creativity with the handmade cards and for keeping her blog going, as I look at it and dream of all the cards I am going to make. She keeps that spirit alive in me and I thank you for that Patty.

I belong to the “Scrappin Packin Mommas” who are from the Metropolitan New Orleans Area (Westbank) and just love my group of girls. My group name is “Yo Momma” because I always tell my kid “ I told you so cuz I’m Yo! Momma”. We meet once a month and that is where I do most of my scrapping. I don’t get much scrapping done at home, therefore, that is why I look forward to attending the meetings. I do not belong to any online groups and am not a surfer by no means. I actually have my sister Patty “Momma 411” at my fingertips and I have to say that I think she has me quite spoiled. I have been married for 27 years and we have two children. Our son Steven is 27 years old and has given us a beautiful grandson named, Peyton Michael, who is going to b e 5 years old and “all boy”. My Steven has such a beautiful spirit and it has been an honor to watch him raise his little boy. Our extra little surprise in life is Sara Elizabeth LeBlanc and she is going to be 10 years old on Valentine’s Day and truly a sweetheart. She recently attended a card making party and amazed me with her scrap booking skills. I could tell that night that she has also caught the card making fever. My husband built her an awesome playhouse that any little girl would wish for, but we now call it the playhouse/scrap booking room, as Mommy has moved in with her.

Please leave a comment. Reminder on the photo if you click on the photo it will enlarge for better viewing.

Karaoke Momma - Laura LeBlanc

I would like to introduce one of my fellow scrap booker. She is a beginner but has such a creative eye and has created some beautiful layouts and cards.

Ok here goes...I've been scrapping for just a little over a year now and have to admit I am totally addicted!! It has captured my artistic side and I can't imagine NOT scrapping!! I only wish I had found out about this wonderful hobby sooner. My sister-in-law, Liz, is the one that gave me a crash course in scrapping because I was on a mission to make a paperbag book for my mom of my grandson's 1st birthday. See my family lives in Tennessee and my grandson was born on Katrina, so my mother had still not even seen him and here it was his 1st b-day....so off I went with all of Lizzy's supplies and that was that I was hooked immediately. I have also had the pleasure of scrapping at the Scrapbook Cottage which is where I became addicted to paper piecing, thank you Paper Piecing Patty as well as cardmaking, thank you Ms. Diane. and just love attending their all day crops!!! I was recently asked to join a scrapbooking group called The Scrappin Packin Mommas and boy was I surprised and honored. This is a "Great" group of ladies and real honor for me to be included into their group. My alias is "Karaoke Momma"...I am also in an online group called The Scrapbook Nook which keeps me very busy just trying to keep up with all their emails...they are a very chatty group...LOL and I feel I hardly have the time these ladies have to chat on the computer but I do what I can. I am getting ready to for my first grand-daughter in February and can't wait to see what kind of layouts in my future of her!!! She will be the first girl in our family in three (3) generations.

Card Session at Yo Momma's house

On Sunday, December 30, several ladies met at Yo Momma's house for a card making sessions. The following Scrappin Packin Mommas were there Yo Momma (Lizzy), Momma 411(Patty L) and Karakoa Momma (Laura). From the Sweet & Sassy group we had Peppermint Patty (Patty P), and Starburst (Kaci), also Barbara Lajaunie and Yo Momma's little girl, Sara.

We started at 5:oo p.m. and shut down the card making session around 3:30 a.m the next morning. Between all of the girls we created a total of 83 cards. The picture to the left is all the stamps/punches that we shared with each other.

Yo Momma, with her assistant Sara made a total of 12 cards, which will go into a box for a teacher gift.

Momma 411 created 11 (cards to left)cards, also took advantage of everyone's stamps, stamped out quite a few of the stamps in different colors, on white and ivory cardstock for future card making.

Peppermint Patty created 13 cards, and she also created 4 card boxes, which included making the dividers for each and she did a lot of stamping on all her dividers, she did not make her first card until well after midnight. One of her card boxes was a gift to her sister, which she had to deliver the next day, so everyone there chipped in and donated one card for her sister's box.

Starburst created 15 cards and also made a card box, with dividers. Kaci thanks for bringing those really great stamps for card making.

Karakoe Momma created a total of 12 cards, she had a list of cards to make and was able to complete them all with a few extras. Earlier in the day she created her card box. Which was so cute. Laura's card box on the left and one of her cards on the right
Barabara created 14 cards, she used a lot of ribbon and fibers so really precious cards. She also took advantage of the stamps, and punches.

Sara helped her mom with paper selections. Throughout the evening each lady there received a beautiful handmade card from Sara. Her momma created a card for her and everyone there wrote a little note to Sara in the card.

Can't wait for a future card making session... hope that Eastbank Momma (Tammy) will be able to make the next one.

We each brought a little something to contribute to the snack table (Stir Fry veggies, peach clobber, rice krispy treats, crab dip with crackers, cake, and cut macorni.

Overall we had a wonderful time just socializing and sharing our creative thoughts
