Evacating due to Hurricane Gustav

the Southwest and South East coast of Louisiana is in the process of evacating the area. We have a possible Cat 4 or 5 heading to the centeralize coast line of Louisiana. The new Orleans metro area being on the east side of the storm is not good. There could be some serious flooding.

I will be heading in land to Mississppi around the Hatteisburg area, yes still might be in Hurricane force winds. If we see a need to move further north we will pack the cars and move further up. Since yesterday people have been flowing out of the area, the interstate systems have been bumper to bumper since yesterday. I will be leaving Sunday and that is when contra flow beginnings which is not going to be a fun ride.

Still preparing the house for the storm. Hubby is staying home, still trying to talk him into coming with us.

6 x 6 kit swap for The Crop Room

I decided to join on a 6 x6 kit swap. My online group "The Crop Room" While at the crop yesterday I assembly the kit and made a cute little snail paper piecing for each kit.

RAK - all the way from New Zealand

One of my online scrapping friend from my group "The Crop Room" had an RAK on her blog, offering some lace and I accepted. Now I just need to figure out what I want to use it for cardmaking or scrapbooking.

RAK - A happy mail

Last night when I got home from Lisa's crop this envelope with a bunch of goodies was awaiting me. What a great gift. I love to receive happy mail (happy mail - is anything that is not a bill or junk mail). I would like to thank that the person that send these goodies my way. I think I might have a clue. It might have been a tablemate of mine yesterday at the crop (JL). Thank you Thank you

Make N Takes from Lisa's Crop (08/16/08)

Yesterday from 1:00 p.m till midnight I attended Lisa's monthly crop at the Harahan Senior Citzen Hall. Overall it was a nice day, although the weather at times were bad. Rain on and off all day yesterday. The two snails were the paper piecings that was did in my class. I am not actually sure what you would call what we did in Lisa's make n take, maybe a christmas ornament that you can include a picture on. It was fun and very pretty.

Special book for a special little girl

Quite a few of you may have heard me talk about Bailey. Bailey is a special little friend in my life and has brought joy my way. My oldest son, is dating her mother, Nicole.
So I decided one day to make a little 6 x 6 album in pinks and purples and flowers for Bailey. The book also has flowers on every page. She loves to come to the house and go in the field and pick the wildflowers. I thought I would put a wallet size picture on each of the 20 pages in the album, well it did not work out that way. I still have 7 pages to do and have ran out of pictures.

6 x 6 layouts turned into 8 x 8 layouts

several of my scrapping friends wants to exchange
"About Me" pages with fellow scrappers. We have about 12 of us, all I have to make is 3 pages, since I have already made 6 x 6 layouts and needed 8 x 8 for a few scrappers. I went to work modifing them to 8 x8. Here is the end result.

scrap paper = gift cards

Every wonder what to do with all of your scrap paper. Well making small gift cards for gifts is one way. Here are a few that I made, and those $1.00 clear stamps from Michael's comes in handy for these little cards. Theses 8 plus 8 more will be part of a project I am making for an upcoming event.

Some of my scrapping friends sent me some beautiful handmade cards. The pink card with the scrapper/cardmarker on it is from my friend Peggy. The card with the tag is from my friend Barabara.

Today when I was at Kaci's shower she handed me the beautiful card with the birthday cake. The card with the flowers is from my friend, Linda "Booty Cat". Ladies thank you so much for the happy mail, love getting happy mail.

Layout from a fellow scrapper

A while back "TAC" (The Acaidan Croppers) had a "About Me" layout swap (8 x8) and when I was heading the email pen pal swap one of the requirements was 6 x 6 "About Me" layouts.

Well several of my scrabooking buddies wants to exchange "about me" pages. Well here is one that I received today from my scrapping buddy, Laura "Karakoa Momma".

Layouts for a baby shower

..............................................................Back to Lafitte again today this time to a baby shower for a fellow scrapbooker (Kaci). While at the shower yeterday I mention that I should go home and make a few layouts for Kaci's baby book. So when I got home went on a search and was inspired by some paper piecings that I found over at Scrapjazz.com. Made 2 of the layouts on Saturday night and 2 layouts early Sunday morning. These layouts were so fun to make.

Wedding Shower favors

Saturday... headed down to Lafitte for one of my fellow Scrappin Packin Momma (Sole Momma) bridal shower. The colors for the shower was black and white. What a cute idea for a favor the explosion box (2 inch box) inside of each box was a hershey kiss, and on the bottom of the candy was a round sticker that said "hugs and kisses from the new Mr and Mrs".
