Scrapfest in Mandeville, Louisiana - Feb 2010

My sister, Cathy invited me to attend Scrapfest with her and her friends from Mississippi. We decided that we needed a name so we called ourselves the "Gumbo Girls".  I made a gumbo pot out of poster board and between Cathy and I we filled it up with small scrapbook items  We also had a slipper contest.  I made a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon for the contest.  We were going to judge it between the 7 of us, but other ladies from the event wanted to do the judging. Cathy won 1st, Kristal won 2nd and Vivan won 3rd. I also made some Easter Paper piecing kits and some of the ladies in the group made the paper piecing.

The sisterhood of the traveling butterfly

The sisterhood of the traveling butterfly a couple of months ago was being passed to everyone through email.  I thought it was a very pretty poem and wanted to share it with others.  I did not want to email it, I wanted to make something that would last a while.

This is the first of many that I will make over the course of this year.  The first went to my sister, Lizzy.  We shared a room throughout our childhood.  We have supported each other through the years when things were good and when things were bad.
My sister, Lizzy is more than a sister to me, she is also a very good friend.

I used a butter top for my template for my circle. Each of my butterflies were colored with Copic Sketch markers.

Easter Cards that I made for the troops

I am so far behind in updating my blog.  For starters here are some Easter cards that I made for the troops.  I love my copic markers.  I was only able to make 42 cards for the Soldiers for Easter, life just gets into the way of cardmaking
