Christmas that I will be sending out to family & friends.

-------------Here are some cards that I completed at Lisa's Crop yesterday. This is cards that I will be giving to my family and friends for Christmas 2008.

More Cards for the troops

.......................................................................................................................................................................While at the crop on yesterday I was able to completed some cards for my challenge "Christmas cards for the troops" I had complete some of the fronts at home (11) but was able to complete the inside of each card. I also did another 15 fronts and insides for a total of 26 cards for my challenge.

Lisa's Crop

I had a really fantastic time at Lisa's crop yesterday at the Harahan Sr. Citzen hall (Louisiana). There was a group of 14 ladies (which included 2 - 10 year olds). The pictures above is the make n takes we did (excluding the paper piecing that I taught ) and the Saints coaster was the grand prize drawing at the end, and I was lucky enough to win. Lisa made the coasters. Tammy was our cook and she cooked chicken salad (croissant sandwiches), and made a yummy green salad. We had pizza for dinner. Connie shared with us all the classes and make n takes she did at the TAC convention in Kansas City. Lisa received her new catalog for the Angel Company and share with us.

Layout of self

My friend, Peggy asked that I do an 8 x 8 layout of myself for her scrapbook. Well I hate taking pictures, but here is the layout that she will be receiving.

Paper piecing forgot how fun it is!

I have not paper pieced in ages. Recently I decided to start again, here are a few pieces that I have completed.

Watercoloring

I recently bought a new watercolor set at Michael's, not sure of the brand name. I decided to purchase it because it had 36 colors and my Crayola Water color set had only 24 colors. Well I have discovered that not all watercolors are equal. My crayola water color set leave a slick and shiney finish, whereas my new set leaves a dull and chalkey finish. I like all the color choices in my new watercolor set, but not sure that I like the finish look.

Birthday Cards

The cards are going to be shipped to a troop in Iraq. I have been utilizing my scrap papers. As most of you know that I have a challenge going for Christmas Cards for the troops. To date I have received 51 cards through donations, and I have completed 30, which is a total of 81 cards to date. If you look to the right side of my blog there is a list of who has donated cards.

Well my 2nd challenge is to make at least 20 cards a month, all occassion cards and send them to an Army Troop in Iraq. Yesterday I mailed 24 cards for the month of May. If you would like to join, just leave a comment and I will get back with you on the details. I have 17 cards that just needs the sentiments on the inside of the cards.

All the images were colored using a Crayola watercolor set (24
colors).

These cards were made by my sister, Wanda. She created the 5 cards and matching envelopes from card kits.

Cards by Lizzy

Lizzy is my sister, and a fellow Scrappin Packin Momma. Her momma name is Yo! Momma. She made 4 cards, which was created from kits. She has a few more that will be coming my way soon, she still has to complete the inside of those cards.

Cards by Linda

Linda and I grew up in the same neighborhood and reconnected through scrapbooking. We have scrapped once a month at "The Scrapbook Cottage" and have been to scrapfest. She is part of a group called "The Scrappin Cats" a group with roots in Lafitte, Louisiana. Her cat name is Booty Cat (she loves pirates). Linda has particpated in several card classes taught by Diane Haydel at "The Scrapbook Cottage", most of the cards she made were from these sessions. She was nice enough to donate them to me for the Christmas Cards for the Troops challenge.

Cards by Isabel

Isabel is a member of my group called "The Crop Room". She has made 16 beautiful christmas cards for my challenge. The cards are just beautiful. She made 4 of each style.

Cards Cards and more Cards

On Tuesday (06/03) evening my group called the Scrappin Packin Mommas had their monthly meeting. We have 16 members, but only about 12 are active. Well five of us turned out for the meeting. We all did cards, and Laura (Karakoe Momma) set a date for our Fall weekend crop. We also talked about our anniversary next month. There was a suggestion on going to Rock N Bowl and dress like the 50's. But nothing firm.

I worked on some all occassion cards for the troops. I had colored some images the week before and decided to make 10 power packs (cards kits). I was able to complete 8 of the kits, with only having to go back and add a sentiment to the inside of the card. Two others I worked on but was not able to complete them.

Water coloring

You know me always searching the scrapbook/card making blogs. I have been very interested in learning more tips on using markers, inks, watercolor pencils and paints to color my images.

Well I went to Wal-mart yesterday for lunch to purchase a new camera card . I was frustrated because they had them locked up and noone to help me. So I ended up not buying one and bought some white card stock, rose art paint brushes and a 24 color Crayola watercolor set.

Last night I had a grand old time coloring some of my images using the watercolor set. Most of the ones I did came out pretty good. There were 3 that was really bad and I filed though in File 13 (garbage can).
