Another weekend of Scrapping crops.
Yesterday (Saturday) several of the ladies that I have met through scrapbooking met at the Senior Citzen hall in Harahan, Louisiana for a day of scrapping and card making. I taught a paper piecing class. It was summer related (boy diving in water). I ended up staying from 1:00 p.m till around 12:30 a.m. Lisa is in charge of these crops at the Senior Citzen Hall once a month. The next one for you local girls will be August 16, 2008.

Projects that I did at GCS
The heart was made out of corrugated cardboard, the top layer of the cardboard was ripped away, we painted them and then decorated them with pattern paper and lace.
The pocket card is simple to make.
The flower was made from a page from an old dictionary, fiber, and a button. We also used a brown ink to make it look vintage.

Cards Cards and more Cards
A bucket was put out for the collection of Christmas and All Occassion cards for the Soliders. Well here is the count. We received 30 all occassion homemade cards, 57 all occassion store bought cards, 15 chirstmas homemade cards, and 2 store bought christmas cards. I would like to thank all the ladies that participated in this challenge.
I decided to head up a Card Lotto. Each participate had to make 4 handmade cards in order to enter the Card Lotto. We had 12 ladies that participated. Tammy, Kaci, Charolette and Michele were the winners. All of the cards that were turned in were just awesome.

Gulf Coast Scrappers New Orleans Event
This weekend was the Gulf Coast Scrappers New Orleans Event. I ended up going with 8 other ladies. Some of us were from the Scrappin Packin Mommas, Sugar & Spice and just friends and relatives. Since the theme of the event was Floppin around GCS, we decided to call ourselves "Flip Flop Gals". The weekend before the event the ladies got together and created a banner and shirts for the event. The banner had 6 pairs of flip flops on each side, each flip flop was 3D, we used ribbon, silk flowers, eylets and brads on the flip flops and used velcro to attached the flip flops and the paper piece suns to the banner. Charlene had the idea for the palm tree, which the tops were made with green poster board, umbrella frame, the leaves were stapler to the umbrella frame, then we attached gold balloons for conuts. The base of the tree were dowel sticks cover in paper painted to look like the bark of the palm tree, and we used Jackie and Jenny's monkeys to attach to the bark of the tree.
My tablemates were Peggy, Jackie and Tammy. The other ladies that sat on our row of tables were Shey, Charlene, Jenny, Janice, Stephaine, Zee, Lisa and Bonnie. Only 4 of the Scrappin Packin Mommas attended and they were Jackie (GoGo Momma), Patty (Momma 411), Tammy (Eastbank Momma) and our newest member Jenny (Spicy Momma).
....................................................................................................................I taught two Paper piecing classes at the event and they were successful. I also took 3 make n take classes, one class was a pocket card, another was making vintage flowers, and the last was making a wall hanging using corrugated cardboard as the base of the hanging.
Our table won the table decoration at the event. We also got lots of postive comments on our shirts. Our table won $25.00 as the prize and it was split 9 ways.
Just because they wanted too.....
..............
During the week at work Lizzy said that they might be a surprise at GCS (Gulf Coast Scrappers Event), so I thought they (Lizzy, Delanie, Patricia and Laura) would be dropping by with some entertainment. The reason I thought this is because Judy Hale emailed me to see if the SPM (Scrappin Packin Mommas) would be doing another skit again this year. Boy, was I surprised when Laura walked into the cropping room with a special delivery. She held this beautiful flower arrangement and walked straight to me. I was so tickled to be able to receive it and my heart was touched by the reason for it. They gave it to me just because, and they recongize all the good things I do for others. Thank you ladies, you made my night with this special delivery. I am glad all of our paths have crossed. All of you are wonderful ladies.

A PIF that I received from England today!
Well I had a wonderful blog PIF (pay it forward) that arrived today at work. This was as a result for blog hopping and I happened across Jac’s blog where she was showing her PIF and then what the rules were. Now its my turn to pass some of my stuff forward so here are the rules:
RULES: The first three people to post a comment will recieve a PIF gift from me (4 handmade cards & a paper piecing). Then these people need to pass a gift forward (PIF) to three other people, does that explain it to everyone? You MUST have an active blog to do this AND you MUST pass this onto three people. So come on in and grab a gift and pay it forward!

Cards by Peggy
Peggy is a scrapping friend. We discovered this weekend that our mother's grew up on the same street in the city of New Orleans (Touro Street).
A while ago we discovered that we grew up in the same neighborhood a block away, on different streets from each other and did not know each other as teens. (Grovewood Dr)

Dollar Finds at Target
If I have my story straight. I think Barbara discovered these at Target (Manhattan Blvd, Harvey), she called Lizzy, and of course Lizzy called me. I don't know if there were more than 3 designs but that was all that Lizzy found.
I heard that Joann's Fabrics has some cute $1.00 clear stamps, but just has not made my way across the river to explore. Our Joann's closed due to Hurricane Katrina. Does anyone if they have reopened at Oakwood mall.
