The Holidays

These are 2 of the paper piecings that I had on sale for the Bayou Segnette Sale.

Christmas is right around the corner and I have to get started on my christmas cards. Last year I made 40 cards and mailed out 35 of them. They were so fun to make. Last year i went over to the Scrapbook Cottage and did a Christmas Card Workshop.

I heard from a few of my nieces and nephews and they really enjoyed their Halloween cards and the treats inside the card.

I would like to get started with a few Thanksgiving cards to sent to a few special people on my list. Any one has any ideas on Thanksgiving cards.

One of the Scrappin Packin Mommas dropped this request in my email box about sending Recovering American Soliders. Well I have already addressed 5 of my left over cards from last year and they are ready for mailing. Which I will do at the beginning of December.

here is the information if you are interested in sending Christmas greeting to an Recovering American Solider.

I'm sure many of you are currently writing cards to friends and family. If you can, please send an extra one to our American military heroes who are recuperating from wounds this Holiday Season. Please enclose a short note thanking them for their service and personal sacrifice. They are the protectors of our freedom, we must let them know that we appreciate their sacrifices.

Your small act of kindness will be greatly appreciated.

Here's the address...
A Recovering American Soldier

c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001

If you would, please send a card & forward this message to your email friends.

Bayou Segnette-Sunday

REMINDER: When viewing the pictures - if you click on them you can enlarge for better viewing.

Here is a picture of my little table for my paper piecing sale.

Sunday I returned to Bayou Segnette at 2:00 p.m. to teach my second paper piecing class, and to sell my paper piecings. The second class was a Frankenstein. After each of my classes I have a drawing with all the participates in my class, and the lucky winners, receives the sample paper piecing that we used in the class.

I love walking around and viewing everyone’s work - the ladies in the Creative Juices group was making some awesome Christmas Cards and they had a ton of beautiful stamps in their possession. Kyle from the Scrapping Cats was also making some really beautiful Christmas Cards. Peggy was working on some Halloween pages from our Witches Night Out (Scrappin Packing Mommas - Oct Crop) and doing a great job - might have to send her my pictures to scrap LOL. Shey was the queen of the crop and went home with a ton of gifts, she also completed quite of few layouts of her New York Trip and some of her little girl. My new friend Charlene completed some awesome pages of her granddaughter at the pumpkin patch.

Debbie the lady that was in charge of the event. Made table stands for everyone that attended the event. She used the metal frame from the political signs and mounted them to a block of wood, and attached some badge clips to the frame so that you can hang either cards or layouts. My good friend Peggy, gave me her stand. What a great friend. Thanks Peggy.

She also used an old lamp shade to make a much larger one to store some of her embellishments. So now I am going to have to hit the flea markets and garage sales to look for an old lamp shade so that I can make a stand. It was awesome because I have been wanting to design something like this stand for my paper piecing sale, and I was surely surprise to see her design, because it is exactly what I was looking. Thanks Debbie for being so creative.

Debbie also invited me to have supper with them. We had baked chicken, cheese mashed potato, and salad, which was yummy. Thanks Debbie.

Bayou Segnette - Saturday

Here are a few more of the paper piecing that I had on sale at Bayou Segnette. I think my alligator was my favorite to make.

Bayou Segnette weekend crop setting was in the state park in Westwego, Louisiana in the Group camping quarters. Seen lots of my scrapping friends. There was Peggy and Shey (Sugar & Spice), there was 3 of the Scrapping Cats (Kyle, Roni, and their mom Sam), A group of ladies called the Creative Juices (Geri, Nancy, and Ms. Dee, Wanda, Ms Alice - each member had a juice name), Debbie Gauthreaux the lady in charge and old schoolmate, and even meeting a new scrapping friend her name is Charlene.

Saturday evening (5:00 - 7:00 p.m) the state park had a hay ride and trick a treating for all the campers in the park. So everyone in the crop room went outside and sat on the benches handing out Halloween candy and just chatting it was a nice time for visiting ladies that you only see a couple of times a year at the crops. Several of the ladies had their children and grand children come by for some treats. Such cute Halloween costumes.

Saturday I taught a class of 9 at 3:00 p.m. and it was a beautiful sunny cool day in the State Park. The paper piecing that we did was a stack of pumpkins with the top pumpkin wearing a witch’s hat. One of the ladies that was suppose to be in my class was also scheduled for another class. So when she reappear I gave her a private lesson, and the paper piecing ended up matching the paper on her Halloween layouts that she was doing. After the class I set my little stand up on the porch. I must say that I did very well on my sales, and would like to thank each and everyone that bought from me. THANK YOU THANK YOU!

When leaving the park that evening there was tons of rabbits lining the roadway. Also, Debbie was kind to give me some food to take home - some good old fashion home cooking - 2 stuff peppers, vegetables, bread and two chocolate cupcakes.

My finds while surfing the net.

Snuggled up to a heating Pad

This weekend is the Bayou Segnette Crop in Westwego, Louisiana at Bayou Segnette State Park. I will be teaching two classes, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The pieces that will be taught are a set of pumpkins with a witch hat and a frankenstien.

The last two night I have had to shut down production of my paper piecing due to being involved in a car accident. I was stopped with my blinker on to make a left hand turn when a vehicle just plowed right into the back of me. The bummer on my car is cracked, the trunk frame work was pushed in, and now my trunk will not lock, everytime I hit a bump the trunk flies open. So I am now driving hubby’s truck. Had to go to the doctor’s yesterday, and it has been discovered that I torn some neck muscles, and I have a mild wip lash on the left side. So for the last two nights after work, I have gone home and snuggled up to a heating pad.

What a find?

Saturday I stopped in at Michael’s to use my 40% coupon, I ended up buying something for my email pen pal. When I walked back to my car. I notice this flower laying on the ground right behind my car, and noone was in sight. So I decided it was pretty and picked it up, took it home and took it apart and was able to yield 6 flowers, and now I have some pretty yellow flowers in my stash.

Inspired by Flossie’s Follies Blog

I was inspired by her use of stickers on Halloween Cards, so I decided to make a few Halloween cards to send to my nieces and nephews. I used a sheet of the Miss Elizabeth Halloween stickers and ended up making 6 cards and could have made another 3 cards with the leftover stickers.

Here is what I started with and here is what I ended up making. I totally enjoyed making the Halloween cards. In each card instead of putting sentiments I put a goodie (candy) in each one, and they will all be mailed so what a cute surprise.

Lori & Lisa's Stampin Up Party

There was a beautiful board that displayed awesome Halloween & Christmas cards. There were 3 make N takes. The 1st was a cute Halloween card that held a lollipop. The second we used mailing labels and stamped them and then wrapped a stamped mailing label (dollar tree mailing labels) a small candy bar, then 4 candy bars were put into a small plastic bag, then we made a topper for the plastic bag. They also demonstrated how to a sour cream container that you could fill with goodies, and of course when I got home I had to make one. We also made a cute Christmas card, using a background stamp, and a snowman stamp. They gave each of us a white gift bag and we were able to decorated the bag with stamped images, mine was a Christmas bag.

Yesterday (Saturday, 10/20), Peter and I drove down to the French Quarters and downtown looking for all the fleur de lieu, but we were only able to find one, that one was on the corner of O'Keefe and Howard. We tryed to go down Bourbon Street, to go to Royal, what a mistake to drive down Bourbon to many people walking in the streets, and got frustrated and went home, I guess we will try again next weekend. We came to the conclusion that most of them were indoors.

Which is my name for her. Well she has been my scrapbook subject on the last couple of layouts that I have made. I do enjoy working with all those girl colors. Here are two of those layouts.

Also, here is a picture of some of the Halloween paper piecing that I will have on sale at Bayou Segnette.

Witches Night Out

The Scrappin Packin Momma has yet another successful weekend crop. There were a few minor bumps in the road but overall I think things went well. The leader for this special event was Tammy - Ms. "Frankie" Stein.

We started around 7:15 p.m with the potion ceremony where each lady was given a witches name. My name was Paper Potion Patty. Then around 9:30 p.m. I read a little notice about me losing my potion cards and needing help finding them. They were all found and 10 lucky ladies received goodie bags from me for their help (Each package had 2 home made cards).

There were several games of bingo that was won. There was a twist to our bingo, in order to X out a square you had to complete a layout, and that layout had to have the item that was in the square (ex. Brads). I had heard that a lot of scrap booking and card making was done. It also encourage some to try new techniques on their cards or layouts.

There were lots of prizes to win, each lady walked away with a guaranteed 3 gifts (large, medium, and small). Of course, if you won bingo then that was another gift. Then around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday there was a drawing for door prizes. Lisa-Bewitched Boo-racco made some awesome gifts, and Jackie (Jack-E-Lantern) donor a gift basket full of scrap booking supplies, and that was won by Peggy (Magical Morgan)

There was 10 entries for the Tag contest. The winners were Lizzy-Yo! Mummy (1st), Peggy-Magical Morgan (2nd) and Lisa-Bewitched Boo-racco (3rd). All the tags were awesome.

The Best Witch hat contest was won by Lizzy. She won with 7 votes, and the number of her hat (frog & cattails) was #7.

There was some really cute broom parked in the parking area. Lizzy had the best it had a steering wheel, and eyes for rear view mirror. While most of the brooms were compact, Jackie's (Jack-E-Lantern) was a cadallic.

There was also Technique classes. Lizzy (Yo! Mummy) taught us how to paint on a black & White photo), Lisa (Bewithcd Boo-racco) taught us about alcohol inks, and how to make a cute mini album using a school folder. Tammy (Ms. "Frankie" stein) showed us how to use the dispenser (xyron) without the machine.

I was able to complete 9 hand made cards and 3 layouts.

Sneek Peek

Well the weekend did not go as plan. I was suppose to teach (Saturday)
a paper piecing class, and attend the Gretna Heritage Festival. The paper piecing to the left is the one that I would have taught the class.

Well I spend all of my day at the doctor’s office, and then the emergency room, and that evening in the hospital with my youngest son, Peter. Peter has an infection on his right hand, mostly in the area of the pinky finger. He checked out of the hospital on Sunday around 3PM. His hand is still swollen, but he now has 5 IV’s of antibodies in his system. Also, Chuckey had back pain problems this weekend so that is the reason we did not make it to the Gretna Festival on Sunday.

For a sneak peek of my bag that I decorated for the Scrappin Packin Mommas October Crop next week. The other side of the bag is different, same design but different colors. I ended up during this project at the hospital while keeping Peter company. I was really pleased with it and it came together rather quickly. Now all that I have left to do is to fill it with $20.00 worth of scrapbook goodies.

Next weekend is the Scrappin Packin Mommas October Crop. The theme of the crop is Witches Night out. There is a tag contest. This is my tag I wanted to be a little different.

This morning I got up and had every intention on making some homemade cards for my Decorated Gift Bag for this weekend’s crop, Well I was so aggravated with my scrap papers. I had 3 containers and it was all unorganized. Well I ended up on the living floor and started separating them by color and then putting each color in a ziploc bag. Now things are a bit more organized.

Gathering with an awesome bunch of ladies

On Saturday, I will be teaching a paper piecing class at Scrapbook Cottage to a wonderful group of ladies in Harvey, Louisiana (New Orleans Metro Area). So tonight I have to get busy making 10 paper piecing kits. I don’t know I just always seem to pull it together at the last minute. I know that it will be a Halloween theme, mostly likely a friendly witch or something to do with a pumpkin.

The last several nights I have been working on some cards. I plan on giving away 20 handmade cards at the Scrappin Packin Momma’s October Crop. So who knows if you are one of the lucky ladies attending this Crop next weekend you just might win one. Here is a sneek peek at two of them

I have been searching tons of card making blogs and there is just some beautiful cards to see out there. I often found a card I like and print it, but when I go to make the card it is totally different than the one I saw. Go check out 2 of the sites that I frequently visit.

http://inkypaws.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
http://papercookies.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/

If you look to the left or right of each of these blogs you will find a list of more blogs to visit, and each site has posted some awesome cards and other projects. Go take a peek

Other activities that I will be doing this weekend:

Sometimes this weekend I will need to find some time to go to the Gretna Heritage Festival. I have never been and chatted with Chuckey last night and I think we will go mostly likely Saturday night (after 7:00 p.m.) or Sunday during the day. Here is a link to the Gretna Heritage Festival website.

Everyone please have a fun and safe weekend.

here is another peek at some of the give away cards.

cardmaking is great theraphy

Just want to welcome everyone to my Scrapbooking/cardmaking blog. I still have to figure out how to make this site fancy.

So it seems like everyone these days are getting into cardmaking. I recently started to make homemade cards and love doing so. here are a few of my cards. I totally enjoy watching my cards and paper piecings come alive with the use of ink and chalk.

I have mostly used my scrapped papers to make my cards. Another use for scrap paper. As most of you know that I love making and sharing my paper piecing knowledge with others. here are a few of my paper piecings.

so what has everyone else been doing in the scrapbooking/cardmaking world.
