More Valentine cards that I made for the troops

These are some of the 50 valentine cards that I made for the troops. I orangazied a valentine card challenge for the troops and was just totally excited that in less than 2 weeks we were able to collect 389 cards which the majority of them were handmade.
I wanted to make a heart shaped card, so I took the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card base and drew a heart and that was the base of my heart card.

My son, Peter and his little surprises

Peter is forever giving me flowers from his garden, always leaving them on the kitchen table near my scrapping spot. By the time I thought to take a picture of these flowers that was a bit wilted.

Peter when he was little would alway bring me home heart shaped rocks, which I still have many of them. To this day although he is a man now if he sees a heart shape rock he always gives it to me.
This morning he surprised me again. Early this morning I was laying on the sofa due to my neck and arms hurting and could not get comfortable in my bed. I seen him at the table writing me a note, but he did not know that I was awake. I really thought he was leaving me a note with money to pay his cell phone bill and money for a movie he rented on cox. But it was not that when I woke later in the morning (7:00a.m). It was a note.
The note read "Look at your car on top I wrote something on it! Get me up for 12:oo p.m. today. Ok OK OK OK - Love U mom." So of course I had to go and check it out. There was jack frost on the car and he wrote "I Love Mom From Peter". How uplifting that was this morning. It is all those little things that a person does for you that you will always remember.

Jackie D is a member of the Scrappin Packin Mommas . I love the UPS stamp she used on the back of her cards. Jackie tell us where did you find this stamp.

Birthday Cards or Purses?????

Well a new year so that means I have to restock my birthday cards for family and friends. I had several cards that I needed to make for the month of January. Thank goodness for the "Card Queen" swap that I participated in . I received more than 40 cards, one of the themes that I asked for was Male birthday cards. So making one for my father in law was rather simple, just picked one. I had several female cards to make. I was scanning through a few of my card making magazines when I stumbled acrossed a purse shape card. Well this is 2 of the 3 cards that I made.

Since I could not find the template in the magazine I created one of my own. This is my version of the card. I made a card for two of my Scrappin Packin Momma. Red Hot Momma (Patricia) celebrated her birthday on Dec 28th so her card is a bit late. Artistic Momma (Carole) will be celebrated her birthday on January 5 again the card was a little late. The other card is for my sister in law, Lori, I will be able to have that in the mail before her Jan 12th birthday.

Christmas gifts from my sisters & nephews

Cathy found the clock earlier in the year and picked it up to give to me for a christmas gift. She did alter the clock just a little bit. If you enlarge the picture you will see that she put my Scrappin Packin Momma name on the clock "Momma 411".

I plan on putting the clock up in my office at work.

My sister, Cathy also made this altered canvas also as a christmas gift to me. The week before Christmas it snowed in the New Orleans area, and this photo was making its round on the email circuit. Cathy printed it out and mod podge it to a canvas then she added the green ribbon and embellished the ribbon with a pewter key. Then she added a really pretty stand for the canvas.

My nephew, Dalton had his mom (Cathy) take him to the Dollar Tree so that he could do his Christmas shopping and this is the cute little album that he bought for me. I just
love shopping at Dollar tree for my scrapbooking needs and for supplies for my altered projects. I plan on making a small Heritage photo album and I will be using the little album that Dalton gave to me.

My nephew and Godchild, Steven gave me these cute chipboard letter and season stickers for a Christmas gift.

My sister, Wanda gave me these clear stamps along with some bath crystals. I love these little clear stamps and can't wait to use them on my Christmas cards for 2009.

More more clear stamps this time my sister, Lizzy "Yo Momma" gave me these stamps. There are many possiblitity for these stamps.
Thanks everyone for such great gifts.

Valentine cards that I made for the troops

My challenge is to make 50 valentine cards for the troops. I pulled together all my papers that I thought would be used on a Valentine card.

I had a box of envelopes No. 6-3/4 (3-5/8 x 6-1/2) that I wanted to use. A few days before I made the cards I colored all of my images. I also had to design a card that would fit the envelope.

I wanted to use an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of white cardstock for the base. So I was able to make 2 card bases from each sheet. I was also able to use my new scallop punch from stampin up on some of the cards. Of course, I use some of my stickles on a few of the cards.

18 cards and 32 more to go.

A special delivery for me.

On Saturday, December 13, 2008 I received a special gift from a solider. His mother, Roni , his grandmother, Sam, and his Aunt Kyle delivered it to me at Lisa's crop. I had no idea what I was getting. It was a thank you gift from BJ. I was totally taken away by the gift. It really touched my heart.

Several days before receiving the gift from BJ I received the most beautiful thank you email from him. Thanking all of the ladies that took time out of their busy schedules to make Christmas cards for the troops. The email touched the heart of all the ladies. The email explained how he was having a bad week, and how his spirits were lifted when he found out he had a package. Then he went on to describe how the other soliders felt about the cards, and some of the comments of the others soliders. I have printed out the email and have taped it to the back of my frame. This special gift will have a place in my living room.
My sister, Lizzy happened to be visiting the crop that day and was able to take these
few pictures of me receiving the gift.
The flag that is folded in the frame was actually flown on the black hawk helicopter. The pictures of the solider in the frame is BJ.
I started making the cards for the troops about a year ago. The Christmas package was the 3rd package I sent to BJ, and the first package to TJ. I learned about cards for the troops from a website that I stumbled upon called "Cards for Heros". I decided then that I would make cards for the troops and shared this project with my scrapping friends. I will continue to do the card challenge for the soliders. I know that it brings joy to them, but it brings peace to my soul.
