My sister, Cathy created this beauiful Christmas wreath, she purchased all the supplies from Dollar tree, she used the following items. .......the green wreath, 3 rolls of ribbon, one big star, one pack of (4) ornament picks, and one pack of (5) "Joy" ornaments...very easy (thanks to amy brignac eddins). Look up mesh wreaths and there's plenty of tutorials out there...this did not involve any gluing.

A little history.

The record for the world's largest snowman was set in 2008 in Bethel, Maine. The snow-woman stood 122 feet 1 inch (37.21 m) in height, and was named in honor of Olympia Snowe, a U.S. Senator representing Maine.
The previous record was also a snowman built in Bethel, Maine, in February 1999. The snowman was named "Angus, King of the Mountain" in honor of the then current governor of Maine, Angus King. It was 113 feet 7 inches (34.62 m) tall and weighed over 9,000,000 pounds (4,080,000 kg).[4]

a little history

Joel Roberts Poinsett was the first United States Ambassador to Mexico being appointed by President John Quincy Adams in the 1820's. At the time of his appointment, Mexico was involved in a civil war. Because of his interest in botany he introduced the American elm into Mexico. During his stay in Mexico he wandered the countryside looking for new plant species. In 1828 he found a beautiful shrub with large red flowers growing next to a road. He took cuttings from the plant and brought them back to his greenhouse in South Carolina. Even though Poinsett had an outstanding career as a United States Congressman and as an ambassador he will always be remembered for introducing the poinsettia into the United States

A little bit of christmas history.

At the beginning of the 1930s the Swedish painter Haddon Sundblom introduced Santa's dress code, which has been valid to this day. In the course of a Christmas advertising campaign of the Coca-Cola Company, Santa Claus was dressed in red-and-white clothing, the brand's colour. Ever since, Santa's suit has been red with white fur trim. It were European emigrants who took the character "Santa Claus" with them to America and it was America who introduced a new dress-code to Santa and spread it throughout the world.

Christmas Socking and Chirstmas Boot

Here are the next two, both were colored with copic markers.

The origin of the Christmas stocking is a tale of a kindly Saint Nicholas. Folklore tells the story of a nobleman whose wife had died, leaving him penniless with three daughters. Left with no money for a dowry, the nobleman was worried about the dowry for his daughters to marry. On Christmas, Saint Nicholas came to their home and saw the girls' stockings hanging to dry above the fireplace. He then filled them with gold and the nobleman's daughters were able to marry.

Versions of this tale have been circulating for decades, each with their own twist on how the nobleman came to be poor or what Saint Nick was doing at their home that night. Regardless of the truth in the tale, it is one that has been told for years across the globe.

the box was decorated by my sister, Lizzy using her scrapbook supplies. This box was for a co-worker's mom's 91st birthday. When she opened the top there was a continous string

Paper Birthday Cake

Last year in August my sister, Lizzy made a birthday cake for me and there were many little birthday notes, and memory notes along with Hershey's kisses. It touched my heart. I recently throw the cake away. It had 12 slices which were cake slice shape boxes. Well I decided to make her cake out of boxes that I made. There are 5 layers, a 7 inch, 6 inch, 5 inch, 4 inch and a 3 inch. I made 94 hand made flowers using the George cricut Flower 1, then I used a halloween Cricut Cartridge to cut 2 different borders to use as piping. The candles I think was from the cricut Sweet Treat cartrigdge. I cut 8 no. 5 and 8 no O and glue them together to make my own chipboard. This is a tip I borrowed from my scrapbooking friend, Misty, and then use yellow/orange stickles for the flame of the cake.
